The Fiji Police Force processed 52,694 police clearance applications last year, generating $4.3 million in revenue, Minister for Policing Ioane Naivalurua told Parliament on Friday.
Mr Naivalurua said demand for Police Clearance Certificates had increased significantly, with 8,482 more applications processed compared with 2024.
“Mr Speaker, Sir, in 2024, the Fiji Police Force processed a total of 44,212 applications with a total revenue earning of $3.8 million,” he said.
“Last year, these numbers increased by 8,482. A total of 52,694 applications were successfully processed, generating a total earning of $4.3 million.”
Mr Naivalurua said a Police Clearance Certificate was an official document confirming whether an applicant had a criminal record in Fiji.
“This is a requirement for employment, visa, residency applications, study abroad, to name a few,” he said.
He also outlined the application process, saying forms were available from the Police Clearance Office at the Fiji Police Force Headquarters in Suva, selected police stations and the Force’s official website.
Applicants are required to complete the prescribed form and provide supporting documents, which may include a recent passport-sized photograph, a certified copy of valid photo identification and proof of address.
Fingerprints may also be required in some cases.
Mr Naivalurua said applicants must pay the prescribed fee at designated Police revenue collection offices and should retain their receipts for tracking and follow-up purposes.
“Once the clearance is processed, it will only be emailed and posted to the relevant organisation or agency that requested a police clearance,” he said.
He said applicants wanting to check the status of their applications should use the telephone numbers and email addresses provided on the Fiji Police Force’s official website or call 9905201.
Mr Naivalurua also clarified that follow-up enquiries should “not [be made] to the Commissioner.”
For people seeking Fiji police clearance from overseas, he said application forms could be accessed through the Fiji Police Force website or obtained from the nearest Fiji High Commission, embassy or consulate.
