Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his historic tenure and leadership, describing his record as an extraordinary achievement in modern politics.
Mr Rabuka took the opportunity to convey his appreciation and admiration for Modi’s leadership and his ability to guide one of the world’s largest nations.
He noted that from taking office on 26 May 2014 through to 10 June 2026, Modi has served continuously as Prime Minister for 4,399 days, making him the longest-serving Prime Minister in India’s history.
“In this day and age, this is an extraordinary achievement,” Rabuka said.
The Prime Minister said discussions with the Indian High Commissioner focused on further strengthening cooperation between Fiji and India across several key sectors, including development, education, healthcare, trade and people-to-people links.
Rabuka acknowledged India’s continued support for Fiji and reaffirmed the importance of the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
“Fiji values India’s continued partnership and support, and I look forward to building on the many achievements we have accomplished together,” he said.
The Prime Minister concluded by extending his best wishes to both nations, saying, “Blessings to Fiji and India.”
Fiji and India have maintained close diplomatic ties for decades, with India remaining a key development partner supporting projects in areas such as health, education, infrastructure and capacity building.
