Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is on a seven-day visit to Australia following an invitation from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Mr Rabuka left the country yesterday with a delegation from the Government as this was his first official visit to the ‘Land Down Under’ since the 2022 General Election.

A statement on the Fiji Government’s social media page said that he will be part of a series of formal engagements and bilateral meetings, including meetings with the Fijian communities in Sydney, Canberra, and Brisbane.

A signing of the revised ‘Vuvale Partnership’ will also take place on October 18.

According to the statement, Mr Rabuka will reiterate his commitment of fostering peace in the Pacific during the bilateral meetings.

This was a cause that gained momentum during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

PM Rabuka will also be meeting with Fijian seasonal workers who are in Australia under the Fiji-Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme.

The Fijian delegation will return on October 21, 2023.

Meanwhile, Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau will be acting as Prime Minister.
