Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry says Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is not immortal.
He made the comment at a party meeting in Saru, Lautoka on Saturday night where he also urged voters not be swayed by the “no security” without Mr Bainimarama campaign by the FijiFirst party.
“They are going around telling the Indians there will be no security if Bainimarama will be gone,” he claimed while speaking in Hindi to participants.
“They are saying if Bainimarama won’t be here, things will not be right for you.
“Bainimarama isn’t amar (immortal). “One day all will go and one day he will also go.” Mr Chaudhry said Fijians were not cowards “that for our safety and security we rely on someone else”.
He said what Fiji needed today were “brave people who can speak out and expose themselves to danger and fight for you”. “I want to see our people emerge from this fear.
“Don’t be afraid.” Questions sent to Mr Bainimarama on the comments made by Mr Chaudhry remained unanswered when this edition went to press.
