FIJI’S Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama today encouraged the Victorian business community in Melbourne, Australia, to come to Fiji and see for themselves how rapidly the island nation was stepping into the 21st century.
Combined with what he said was the country’s ninth consecutive year of economic growth, the Government’s extensive capital investment on the national infrastructure, the various tax incentives, and the educated and skilled workforce, among others, Mr Bainimarama said the prudent eyes of the proven business people in Victoria would recognise that the market conditions were ripe with opportunity; and that Fiji’s economy was diversifying in “exciting new ways”.
“See the opportunity that exists in our dynamic island economy, see how we are forging new partnerships and building new bridges to new markets in the Pacific and throughout the rest of the world. See the rock-solid foundation of infrastructure and services we’ve put in place to keep our economy strong and growing. And see how ready the Fijian people are to work with you to build the help a new and better Fiji, and to make both of our nations stronger and more prosperous,” Mr Bainimarama told the business community who attended the business luncheon held at the Crown Towers in Victoria.
He said the gathering was an opportunity to answer any questions and work with them to ramp up their economic engagement.
He said he was interested to hear from the business community there.
“The world is taking notice of the progress Fiji is making, and here in Victoria, you are uniquely positioned to take part in the very exciting development taking place back in Fiji.”
