ENVIRONMENT Minister Parveen Kumar has urged businesses situated in industrial areas to join Government’s “Fight the Bite” campaign.
He said most industrial areas had an issue of improper waste disposal.
“I would also like to urge those that are operating their business in industrial areas to make sure that drains and other facilities within their environment are clean because most of the time we see that those operating within industrial areas have issues with cleanliness,” he said.
“I am urging them to be part of this campaign but not only during this initiative but they should do this all year round.
“As the Prime Minister has said while announcing this campaign, this is the responsibility of all individuals.”
He said it was also important that people and organisations maintained a clean, safe and healthy environment.
“One of the things that I constantly say to people is that we must keep our environment clean at all times and not just because there is a campaign that has come around.
“If they have not been doing this then this is the right time for them to start being mindful of their environment.”
Mr Kumar joined Waterfront Hotel staff yesterday during their “Fight the Bite” campaign.
