A contributing factor to Nadroga’s success in the past years is the support of fans throughout the province.
With this in mind tomorrow they will travel to the island of Vatulele to return a favor by assisting those affected by Cyclone Harold.
Nadroga Rugby Union president Jiko Matawalu said the support from Vodafone enabled them to provide for their families on the island.
“With the compliments of Vodafone-Hakwa Foundation Rise with Vahi Vatulele appeal the Nadroga Rugby Union will not only provide food and clothing but also assist the villagers rebuild their homes.
“Our Nadroga players in the military — Manoa Tamaya, Rt Penijamini Makutu, Sanaila Dukuno and trainer Tikiko Namaua — will be part of the trip including Fiji 7s players Ratu Josua Kurinabili and Apenisa Cakaubalavu. Nadroga XVs players such as Rupeni Nahiga, Emosi Vucago, Akariva Nabati,Setefano Samoca, Ratunaisa Navuma, Samu Laqai, Semi Cabenalotu, Tomasi Lotawa, Epeli Turukawa, Luke Salaba and coach Esala Nauga.
They will be accompanied by some Nadroga Women’s XVs players such as Sovaia Dee, Julia Susu and Iliseva Natuke.
“We are thankful for Hakwa Foundation in inviting us to provide manpower for delivery of the items and giving us an opportunity to cross over and help with some additional work such as cleaning up etc…
“Groceries, clothing and stationeries are the main items for delivery as we see the need for the villages at this time and ensure that children are also equipped during these hard times since most of lost their school belongings in the disaster,” said Matawalu.
The team will depart tomorrow and return on Saturday.
