Members of the public are able to access information about registered Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) through a national register that was launched in 2020.
Learners, parents, guardians, and organisations may access information to guide decision making on post-secondary education in Fiji.
This is made possible by the Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC) through the National Register for Fiji Higher Education (NRFHE) which is an online platform and operates as a directory of registered higher education institutions and accredited qualifications.
FHEC Interim Director, Mr Vijay Naidu said the national register provides accessibility, convenience and a cheaper option for users. “Users no longer have to email or call the FHEC to enquire about the credibility of programs offered by HEIs in Fiji,” said Mr Naidu.
Education providers listed on the National Register are approved to issue qualifications in the range of Certificates, Diplomas, Bachelor’s degrees, Postgraduate Certificates and Diplomas, Master’s degrees, and Doctoral degrees.
Award programs listed in the National Register are accredited on the Fiji Qualifications Framework.
Information on National Qualifications (NQs) are also available on the register to assist higher education institutions in mapping their curriculum against the national standards on specific qualifications.
The development of the register is part of the activities under the Fiji Higher Education Improvement Program (FHEIP) funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).
The National Register can be accessed via the following link: https://nationalregister.fhec.org.fj/
The National Register provides an overview of the quality–assured programs, listing information as the purpose, duration, admission requirements, practicum components and the local/international recognition of the program by a professional or licensing body.
