Home Affairs and Defence Minister Pio Tikoduadua says his meeting with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka this week did not include any discussion on the revocation or termination of former FICAC Commissioner Barbra Malimali.
Speaking to the media after Cabinet met at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday, Mr Tikoduadua denied any link between that meeting and Monday’s announcement of Ms Malimali’s immediate dismissal.
“Oh no, we discussed nothing about that at all,” he said.
“All we discussed was about the letter about the Commander, which you’re all aware of and want to know about which I will make comments in due course.”
Mr Tikoduadua confirmed the PM may have referred to the Commission of Inquiry report, but said he was not yet free to elaborate.
“I will make a statement in due course.
“Right now, I’m not free to comment about it yet.”
Mr Tikoduadua confirmed to this newspaper last week that Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai had raised concerns over Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s decision not to release the Commission of Inquiry report on former FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali.
He said the Commander’s letter was now on his desk.
Mr Tikoduadua declined to reveal its contents, saying he would first need to speak with the Prime Minister.
