Fiji has been rated highly as the place to “flop and drop, get a warm welcome and a cocktail in hand” by thousands of visitors who’ve travelled to this island nation for a holiday.

And Tourism Fiji has stated that Fiji’s emergence as the highest-rated destination in Expedia’s survey highlights our continued popularity as a sought-after tourist hotspot, attracting a continued large influx of global visitors.

In a recent survey by Expedia — the largest online travel agency in the world offering travellers a one-stop platform to book airfares, accommodation, transfers and activities, Fiji has come out on top of the top five popular island getaways ahead of Japan, Indonesia, Hawaii and Malaysia.

Tourism Fiji chief executive Brent Hill says this picture portrays the commitment by the tourism sector to always put its people, warm hospitality, culture, food and nature and experiences at the forefront.

“This also shows that we continue to be on the right track, especially compared to our competitors,” Mr Hill said.

“Fiji is offering the happiness that travellers have been in search of.

“This should foster a sense of pride among Fijians and encourages stakeholders to continue their dedication to delivering exceptional experiences.”

In addition, the Tourism Fiji head that this recent accolade does not only elevates Fiji’s international standing but also promotes sustainable practices, solidifying the country’s commitment to responsible tourism.

“With this opportunity, Fiji can further develop and enrich its tourism sector, while proudly showcasing its enchanting natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage.”

Daniel Finch of the Expedia says visitors are drawn to Fiji because of the warmth of the people, the weather, and it’s not too far to travel compared with other destinations and its best deals of accommodation available.
