The People’s Alliance Party says it remains committed to strengthening partnerships that create economic opportunities for rural communities across Fiji.
Party general secretary Sila Balawa revealed on social media that officials from the Chinese Embassy visited the People’s Alliance Party Office yesterday morning for what he described as “constructive and meaningful discussions”.
Mr Balawa said talks focused on improving the economic wellbeing of rural and maritime communities.
“Our dialogue centered on opportunities for development, empowerment, and creating sustainable pathways that will directly benefit ordinary Fijians, particularly those living in rural and maritime areas,” he stated.
According to Mr Balawa, discussions highlighted the importance of continued cooperation in areas such as economic growth, infrastructure, agriculture, fisheries and rural development.
He also acknowledged the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Fiji and the People’s Republic of China, noting that ties between the two countries date back to 1975.
“The People’s Republic of China and Fiji have shared diplomatic relations since 1975, built on mutual respect, cooperation, and friendship,” he said.
Mr Balawa added that the People’s Alliance remained focused on ensuring development partnerships translated into practical benefits for communities around the country.
“The People’s Alliance remains committed to building stronger connections that place the needs of the people first and create real opportunities for communities across Fiji,” he said.
