Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad has indicated that salary increase for teachers will be considered in the 2024-2025 National Budget.

He said as a Government, they are very comfortable about dealing with openness and people’s right to make their views known.

“Well, all these issues would be considered as part of the budget,” Prof Prasad said.

“And we are confident. The unions have, for the first time after 15 years, got the freedom to talk about strike, to talk about protest, to talk about this.

“For the civil service, we’ve already provided step movements.

“There was an increase in salaries of nurses and in addition of over time budgets, etc.

“So, the Government has already signalled that and obviously this budget will consider everything.”
