Nineteen people were rushed to the Lautoka Hospital following a collision between a bus and a twin cab vehicle at Vitogo, outside Lautoka yesterday.
Police said the twin cab vehicle pulled out of Vitogo Rd at 2.45pm and collided with a bus travelling from Lautoka towards Ba.
The bus was heading for Ellington Wharf in Rakiraki for the 6pm Goundar Shipping vessel travelling to Natovi and Vanua Levu.
Sherin Nisha, a passenger in the Goundar Shipping bus involved in the accident, expressed sadness and dismay.
“It was a silly mistake of the twin cab driver,” Ms Nisha said.
“He should have waited for a few seconds for the bus to pass.
“He was coming from the junction and all of a sudden, he just came out of Vitogo Rd.”
Ms Nisha said she was unsure if the driver of the twin cab saw the bus, “but it was a silly mistake”.
Police said due to the impact of the collision, the bus flipped and landed on the driver’s side of the twin cab vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle and 18 bus passengers were conveyed to the Lautoka Hospital for treatment.
