A MAGISTRATE has directed parties in the four-day trial of former finance minister Professor Biman Prasad to ensure the proceedings begin and conclude “smoothly”, with all outstanding disclosure issues resolved before the hearing starts next week.
During a pretrial conference yesterday, Magistrate Yogesh Prasad instructed senior FICAC prosecutor Joseph Work to provide the defence with the prosecution’s witness list by tomorrow.
Prof Prasad faces one count of failure to comply with statutory disclosure requirements and one count of providing false information in a statutory declaration in 2015.
The prosecution intends to call four witnesses during the trial, which is scheduled to commence on Monday next week.
The matter has been adjourned to August 7.
