A Pakistani national is at the centre of an alleged forged documents case after Mohammed Junaid appeared at the Lautoka Magistrates Court charged with multiple offences relating to the possession and use of falsified documents.

Junaid faces a total of 12 charges, including using false documents and giving false information to a public servant.

It is alleged he overstayed his visitor’s visa after arriving in Fiji in October 2024.

He is alleged to have obtained a Fijian birth certificate in the name of Mohammed Iqbal Khan.

He is also alleged to have used that birth certificate to obtain Fijian passport, a Fijian drivers license and a TIN card.

Both appeared at the Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon facing charges related to the forging and use of falsified documents.

Matawalu is charged with one count of abuse of office, one count of receiving a bribe of $3,000, one count of issuing a false certificate by a public officer and one count of falsification of documents.

Mohammed is charged with four counts of possession of false documents, four counts of using false documents, two counts of giving information derived from false documents and two counts of giving false information to a public servant.

It is alleged Mohammed arrived in Fiji on October 27, 2024, and that his visitor’s visa expired 32 days later.

Magistrate Semi Babitu remanded both accused in custody and adjourned the matter to December 31.
