Pacific Tripartite High-Level Dialogue underway in Suva

The three day Pacific Tripartite High-Level Dialogue on Decent Work and 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent has officially begun this morning in Suva.

The high level dialogue will focus on the  2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent which provides a comprehensive roadmap towards a prosperous, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable future for our nations.

While opening the event last night, President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere said decent work was not just a goal but a fundamental human right that underpins efforts towards sustainable development.

“This dialogue has been a crucial platform for fostering collaboration through tripartism and shaping the future of our region during difficult times marked by various global crises that affect our small island economies,” said Ratu Wiliame.

“The tripartite collaboration enables stakeholders to tackle challenges such as ensuring fair wages, creating safe work environments, providing social security, promoting gender equality and fostering employment growth.”

He said through this dialogue and as a region, the region had an opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to promoting fair labour practices, empowering our workforce, and advancing social equity in line with the principles of the 2050 Strategy.

“By working together with our partners in the region, we aim to build a resilient and prosperous Pacific that upholds the dignity and well-being of all our people.”

“Our collective efforts will pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future for the Blue Pacific Continent.”

The meeting will end this Friday.
