OVERSEAS-based netballers hoping to represent Fiji will still have an opportunity to impress selectors after Fiji Pearls head coach Michelle Parsons confirmed another national trial will be held next month.

Parsons said several overseas players had already submitted expressions of interest to join the national squad but were unable to attend the latest trials.

“We’ve definitely got international players that have registered to trial,” Parsons said.

The additional trial is scheduled for July 18 after the Pearls return from the Spirit Series in Sydney with the squad selected from the current local trials.

Parsons said the session would allow overseas-based players to compete directly against locally based athletes as selectors work toward naming squads for upcoming tournaments.

“The international players that have put in an expression of interest will be coming along to that one as well,” she said.

“So, we’ll have domestic trialling against the international players.”

The Pearls mentor revealed that two teams would eventually be selected to participate in an invitational tournament in August as part of preparations for the Netball World Cup qualifiers.
