Overseas players bring wealth of experience to the SportsWorld Fiji under-20 team as they prepare for the upcoming Oceania U20 Rugby Championship in Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

With 13 players joining the team from countries such as New Zealand, Australia, America, and France, the squad is undergoing rigorous training in the lead-up to the tournament.

Team manager Nemani Tuifagalele has expressed confidence in the team’s fitness and readiness for game day following their second week of training camp at Albert Park.

“Preparations started from last week, this is the second training camp prior to the commencement of the competition next week,” said Tuifagalele.

“The preparation all together I think the boys from overseas are really prepared physically, and they are just ready to take on the field.”

Among the seven local secondary school students in the team, the caliber of talent has impressed Tuifagalele, highlighting the players’ ability to develop and step up to the U20 level.

“We have also seven local secondary school students in the team, the caliber that we have from this schoolboy are great, and surprising to see that they can develop themselves and play a game thats required for them in the U20 level.

As preparations continue, the team is focused on the challenges ahead in the Super U20 competition, where they will face strong teams like Samoa, Tonga, and Canada.

“We will go up against big teams like Samoa and Tonga, so they will be also getting their super U20 francise players, Canada also is an unknown team altogether we should see how they play.”
