Fiji men’s 7s coach Osea Kolinisau says it will be tough for any player to match the achievements of Fiji captain Jerry Tuwai.

Speaking at the press conference after the loss to France yesterday, Kolinisau says Tuwai has achieved so much which may never be achieved by anyone else.

‘It’s a legacy I think that won’t be followed, to be 7s player of the decade, to win the Hong Kong 7s six times in a row, to win two gold medals and now add a silver medal,” Kolinisau said.

Tuwai was dropped by former coach Ben Gollings and he missed a number of tournaments on the World SVNS Series.

Kolinisau brough Tuwai back in the squad and he performed exceptionally well at the Madrid 7s before the Olympics.

Tuwai’s leadership skills and experience saw him get the captain’s tag at his third Olympic Games.

“I think after he’s gone, there’ll be only one Jerry Tuwai.

“I think that legacy will leave a huge mark or footprints for kids to follow.”

Tuwai and the men’s 7s team return home later this week with the silver medal they received after losing 7-28 in the gold medal match in Paris, France yesterday.
