Ongoing World Bank projects in Fiji are playing a crucial role in achieving the nation’s development goals, says Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad.

On Monday, Prof Prasad met with a delegation from the World Bank Group executive directors.

During this time, Prof Prasad addressed several topics, including the emphasis the Fiji Government placed towards addressing pressing development challenges.

The delegation was also given an update on the new National Development Plan (NDP).

“Our National Development Plan is a testament to our commitment to building a resilient and sustainable future for Fiji,” Prof Prasad said.

“The ongoing World Bank projects play a crucial role in achieving our development goals, addressing immediate challenges, and creating lasting positive impacts on our society.”

Nathalie Francken, the director for Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) and alternative executive director for World Bank, thanked the Government for their dedication to the projects.

She also reassured Government of continuous support from the World Bank Group in fostering sustainable development in Fiji.

“The commitment demonstrated by the Fiji Government is commendable,” she said.

“We at the World Bank Group are committed to working alongside Fiji to achieve its development objectives, and we appreciate the collaborative spirit that exists between us.”
