A new political party, the One United Republican Party (OUR Party), has formally applied for registration ahead of Fiji’s next general election.
The Fijian Elections Office confirmed the application in a public notice issued today, October 31, 2026.
Registrar of Political Parties Ana Mataiciwa said the application had been lodged under Section 6 of the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013.
Members of the public have been invited to inspect the application and raise objections if they believe the proposed party does not meet the registration requirements.
According to documents accompanying the application, OUR Party aims to promote national unity, accountable leadership, good governance and economic development.
Its stated vision is to build a free, fair and united Fiji where every citizen enjoys dignity, justice, equality and opportunity.
The party’s guiding principles include freedom of religion, equality for all, accountable delivery, unity in diversity, respect for the rule of law, economic prosperity and empowerment through employment and education.
Its proposed policies also focus on strengthening communities, creating employment opportunities and supporting sustainable economic growth.
The party lists integrity, justice, compassion, service, inclusion and progress among its core values.
The application documents outline membership requirements and a proposed organisational structure, including a general meeting, national executive committee and party branches.
The Elections Office said objections to the application must be submitted in writing within seven days of publication of the notice.
Objectors must specify the grounds on which they believe the application fails to comply with Section 6 or should be refused under Section 8 of the Act.
Objections must also be signed and include the objector’s address.
Submissions can be lodged with the Registrar of Political Parties at the Government Buildings in Suva or emailed to rachel.simmons@feo.org.fj.
The application remains subject to the statutory registration process, and the public notice does not constitute approval of the proposed party.
