THE struggle has been real and I have been doing a challenging subject which became very difficult at a point where I wanted to quit.
This was the sentiments of Ashneel Chandra a Teaching Assistant in Physics at the University of the South Pacific who was the only person who graduated with a Master in Science and Physics on September 21, 2018.
Mr Chandra shared that when he was on the verge of quitting he realized he had great support from his supervisors and family and thought to himself that if he has come this far then why not finish it.
He said that it’s been a long three years journey to get his Master Degree but it has been a learning experience which has not been in vain as good things take time.
Mr Chandra had obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in 2014 and he stressed that now after obtaining his Master Degree he intends to obtain a PHD.
The 26-year-old who has been raised by his mother Romila Kumari Chandra after his father’s death when he was just in High School said that he is thankful to his mum and his older brother Anish Chandra’s support and love.
Mr Chandra shared his passion for physics and said that it is not just about equations as his research was about tropical cyclones and how he could predict its intensity using lightening.
He said that this research was important to him as the South Pacific is always affected by cyclones and any contribution in any form would be great.
Mr Chandra said he has presented his research at two conferences and his working on a paper that can be used to advocate at the international level.
He hopes to someday implement part of his research in the region and contribute to tropical cyclone forecasting.
