The Fiji Police Force has confirmed that police officers have been involved in the illicit drug trade.

This has prompted a warning from Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu that any police involvement would be dealt with thoroughly via internal disciplinary measures.

ACP Driu said the implicated officers would also be dealt with by the Criminal Investigations Department.

“This is also a criminal in nature,” he said.

ACP Driu said their operations were continuing to gain momentum in the pursuit of those involved in illicit drugs

“Every seizure counts. Every arrest is making a difference,” he said.

“We have arrested those who have been repeat offenders.”

ACP Driu said they would continue to put pressure on those involved in the drug trade.
