Children from the ages of four to 18 can participate in the regional Ocean Art Competition.
The competition allows children to tap into their creative side and learn more about the ocean and what it provides.
Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat acting Secretary General and incoming Pacific Ocean commissioner, Dr Filimoni Manoni says in recognising the important role of children and youth of the Blue Pacific, they have announced a regional art competition.
Dr Manoni said the competition was for all children across the region between the ages of four to 18.
“This is a drawing and poster competition which will run from today until the last week of July,” he said.
“We look forward to receiving your drawings. “Be as creative as you can and make the most of your hidden talents.”
The competition has three categories: Ages four to seven, ages eight to 12 and ages 13 to 17.
Children can draw, paint, sketch or create a collage poster inspired by the Blue Island Pledge and there are cash prizes for first, second and third place for each category.
Artists wanting to participate in the competition are required to submit their designs by July 20, 2023.
Artwork can be submitted via email to opoc@forumsec.org with the title “Ocean Drawings and Poster Competition” or dropped off to the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat at Ratu Sukuna Road in Suva or posted to Office of the Pacific Ocean Commissioner, Pacific Islands Forum, Private Mail Bag, Suva, Fiji.
