NAWAIBUTA Holding Northland Rugby is banking on unity, discipline, and passionate home support as it prepares for a crucial Viti Levu Select Skipper Cup Play-Off clash against Rewa at Dasawamu Secondary School Ground this Saturday.

Team manager Veremo Muria said the squad has enjoyed a productive and focused week of preparation, with players fully aware of the significance of the encounter and the opportunity that lies ahead.

“The preparation has been positive and focused. The boys understand what is at stake and have responded well throughout the week,” Muria said.

He stressed that the team’s preparation goes beyond physical training, with a strong emphasis on trust, accountability, and discipline.

“Our preparation is not only about what happens during training sessions but also about building trust, discipline, and accountability within the team.”

Northland enters the decisive match on the back of an impressive victory over Tavua on their home turf last week Saturday.

“The biggest takeaway was our resilience. Travelling to Tavua last week Saturday and securing a win in front of their home crowd was never going to be easy. The boys showed character, composure, and belief in each other.”

While the victory has boosted confidence within the camp, Muria insists the team remains grounded and focused on the challenge ahead.

“Confidence is important, but it must be supported by hard work and humility. Rewa presents a completely different challenge, and we have to earn the right to win all over again.”

According to Muria, Northland’s success this season has been built on a strong connection to the Vanua and the unwavering support of villages, families, former players, sponsors, and supporters.

With the playoff to be played on home soil, he expects local fans to play a major role.

“The support of our people gives the boys an extra lift and reminds them who they are representing.”

Muria has called on supporters to turn out in numbers as Northland chases both the Vanua Cup title and qualification to the Skipper Cup competition this Saturday at the Dawasamu Secondary School Ground at 3pm.
