There is no concrete timetable on when schools will fully reopen, says Minister for Education Premila Kumar.

She made this statement while speaking to teachers at Baulevu High School in Nausori yesterday.

“Most parents are wondering when school will fully reopen, ” Ms Kumar said.

“We cannot come up with a concrete timetable because we are depending on two important factors, like the reduction in the number of active COVID-19 cases in the country.

“As soon as the face to face classes resume, again the parents need to make sure their children are safe. Kids are kids, they love to play around and some tend to forget to wear their masks and they will question a lot of changes.”

Meanwhile, she said when classes resume for Year 12 and 13 students next month, teachers will go through the COVID-19 safety protocols to understand the importance of keeping themselves protected.
