Line Minister Aseri Radrodro clarified that an email sent by the Ministry’s Human Resources department to heads of schools did not fully explain why or for how long the cessation of teachers’ overseas leave applications was being undertaken.
Speaking to The Fiji Times, Mr Radrodro said the Permanent Secretary had already issued a correction explaining the intention of the notice.
Mr Radrodro said teachers wishing to take overseas leave at the end of Term Two were required to provide prior notice.
“For those that wish to go on overseas leave on Term 2, at the end of Term 2, they have to give prior notice.”
“Like a 21 days notice. So that was it. Because tomorrow is the last day (of school).”
He said the notice was issued because the required notice period had passed without any applications being received.
“The notice today is there is no more. Nobody applied within the period. That was the clarification,” Mr Radrodro said.
