Former Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) official Francis Puleiwai did not lodge an official complaint to police about indirect threats made against her which led her to flee to Australia.

The allegations included her tyres being slashed, as revealed in an interview Ms Puleiwai gave to ABC News in September last year.

She told ABC News she left Fiji after resigning from her acting deputy commissioner role on September 5, 2023, citing the threats as the reason.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed to The Fiji Times no formal police complaint was lodged by Ms Puleiwai.

“Ms Pulewai did not lodge an official complaint regarding the matter,” Ms Naisoro said.

“She made the allegations in an interview; however, she did not follow up with an official report with police.”
