No prophecy will hinder celebrations, says Qiliho

Update: 12:07PM NO prophecy or person will hinder the celebrations for the Fiji men’s sevens team’s gold medal win at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

This assurance was given by the Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho in a statement this morning.

“Rumour mongers will not hinder the upcoming national celebrations and with the current momentum of the joint operations underway, I assure everyone that you have nothing to worry about as we have everything monitored,” he said.

Brig-General Qiliho says the Fiji Police Force will work together with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Corrections Service to ensure the celebrations are incident free.

“For those who are spreading the information about an event disrupting the celebrations based on a prophecy that is currently going viral on social media, i urge you to refrain from doing so.

“With the backing of the RFMF personnel, we will be working together to ensure all necessary security measures are implemented prior to, during and after the celebrations.”

A celebration will be held in Nadi when the team arrives tomorrow followed by the main celebration in Suva on Monday.
