Criminal Investigations Department director Serupepeli Neiko is not currently being investigated over allegations linking him to the $3billion Vatia cocaine bust in Tavua.

Police confirmed this after allegations were made that Mr Neiko had been “suspended” over alleged links to Nadi businessman Anand Kumar, also known as Bobby, who’s file relating to the same cocaine case is currently before the High Court in Ba.

Police said Mr Neiko, the former Counter Narcotics Bureau director, had not been suspended but had instead been sent on leave.

Police also confirmed an investigation file involving Mr Neiko had been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions over abuse of office allegations.

“SSP Neiko was not suspended, he and other officers have a lot of accumulated leave, and were directed by COMPOL to proceed on leave order,” police said in a statement.

“The investigation file with DPP for alleged abuse of office dates back to 2022 and is not a recent allegation.”

Mr Kumar is currently in remanded.

It’s alleged he and others imported 2644.5kg of cocaine into Fiji between November 1, 2025, and January 15, 2026.

It is also alleged they were later found in possession of the cocaine at Vatia Wharf, Tavua, and police found $2300 and $AU4550 ($F7086) at his home in Malolo, suspected to be proceeds of crime.

This matter will be called again on June 22.
