Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the Government will not increase the number of Cabinet ministers to fill the Justice portfolio, with Filimoni Vosarogo continuing to double up in the role.
Mr Rabuka said the Government would continue with its existing arrangements, with Assistant Minister Josaia Niudamu already in place, rather than appoint another Cabinet minister in the closing months of its term.
“Minister for Justice is not really a problem, because any of the sitting ministers can take it up at the moment Honourable Vosarogo is doubling up as Minister for Justice, and there is an Assistant Minister,” he said.
“Rather than increase the number of Cabinet Ministers, with the closing weeks and months of this, we can continue and have an Assistant, an Acting Minister,”
Mr Rabuka was responding to questions from the media in Levuka yesterday after the public consultation on Constitution Amendment Bill 32, 2026, at Levuka Town Hall.
