Every youth group that took part in the “Qiri kapa” (drum beating) competition emerged a winner at an ARUKA Fiji event held at the Raiwaqa basketball court last Saturday.
ARUKA Fiji founder Inoke Drauna said the initiative aimed to empower young people by providing a platform to showcase their talents while also raising awareness about available support services, including child protection and HIV awareness.
“It is just empowering young people to access services and we thank Save the Children, Reproductive Family Health and also the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection,” Mr Drauna said.
“They have actually been partnering with us, but at the same time how best can we allow people to understand how they can access services.
Mr Drauna added that creative activities such as drum beating were effective in engaging youths who are often underrepresented at community gatherings.
ARUKA Fiji’s toll-free helpline, 1528, remains available for youths seeking mental health and social support.
