PRIME Minister Frank Bainimarama has wished the nation on this Fathers’ Day.
In his Fathers’ Day message, Mr Bainimarama said that he knew fathers across Fiji agreed there was no better gift than family.
“I was blessed to spend this Father’s Day surrounded by the love of my children and grandchildren at our Fiji Navy monthly church service,” Mr Bainimarama said.
“While many see me first and foremost as Fiji’s Prime Minister, to me, my primary role is being a father. I care about my wife, children, and grandchildren, they, and all the children of Fiji, are what has driven my relentless pursuit to make our beloved nation a better place. They, with my service to God and country, are my life.”
He said his Government recognized that raising a family took two parents who were able to give of their time and energy to support their children’s success.
“That is why we introduced paternity leave for the first-time ever last year, so that fathers can take time off the work to help care a new child without having to sacrifice their pay check.
“That’s why we introduced five days of Family Care Leave for every working Fijian so they can take time off work when they need to tend to their family’s needs.”
He added the government was going to continue driving innovative policies that helped mothers and fathers strike a balance between work and the care of their families and loved ones.
