THE sunken MV Sullivan at Suva Harbour will remain at its current location as a court case between Fiji Ports Ltd and the ship’s owner, Venu Shipping (Fiji) Ltd is still pending.
Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) CEO Joeli Cawaki confirmed they had discussions with Venu Shipping managing director Ben Naidu.
“The MV Sullivan accident happened in 2015 and from then until today, there’s a court case between Venu Shipping and Fiji Ports,” Mr Cawaki said.
“That area is under Fiji Ports boundary.
“There’s a court case still pending and still ongoing in court.
“Fiji Ports is challenging Venu Shipping to remove the vessel.
“We’ve talked to Ben Naidu and he also told me today (yesterday) that there’s a court case in place.
“Also, the legal team at FPCL said there’s a court case in place.”
“My message to the team is to let us do all the documentations right.
“At the end of the day, there will be a legal review following all these exercises to determine who’s at fault.”
