The Fiji Rugby Union continues to shine through the COVID-19 pandemic with a major virtual announcement this morning.

The news could be the needed injection to propel the Flying Fijians and all national teams to new heights.

FRU CEO John O’Connor and FRU general manager commercial Brian Thorburn announced that sports apparel king, Nike, has taken over the outfitting of all Fiji national rugby teams as apparel sponsor.

The deal is expected to generate millions of dollars on royalty to the FRU and the Fijian economy.

Thorburn said the sales of Fiji rugby jerseys and apparel could skyrocket to 45,000 annually from 17,000 in 2020 before the pandemic struck.

The jerseys and all national teams outfits will be sold exclusively at Tappoo outlets and in markets as far as Europe and the US.

The Fiji 7s team and Fijiana 7s team in Australia could be the first to wear the new outfit in the Oceania Sevens.
