A NEW Nadi police station will soon be operational by 2020.

While officiating at the groundbreaking ceremony of the facility yesterday, Minister for Defence Inia Seruiratu said the new structure would house all the requirements needed to meet the growing demands of policing.

He said the construction of the new station was part of Government’s restructure plan for the Fiji Police Force.

“Government is supportive of the restructure and reform plans for the Fiji Police Force, having factored in the growing demands placed on your services,” he said.

“The restructure process is admittedly long overdue.”

Mr Seruiratu explained Nadi’s expansion and impending developments had called for an increase of resources for the Fiji Police Force.
