New Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s coach Osea Kolinisau will have a new coaching panel to help him get the team back on winning ways.

In pursuit of getting the best hands-on deck as the Olympic Games in France looms large, the Fiji Rugby Union has appointed a new and experienced strength and conditioning coach.

Ian Gibbons, who held the position in 2018, has been announced as the new S&C coach and he will have Fiji in his corner.

“We have obtained the services of a very experienced S&C coach, and he comes into the fold with an impeccable resume.

As a high-performance coach specialising in rugby sevens and 15s, he was previously the S&C coach for Saracens, US men, Seattle Seawolves and Japan Rugby Union,” FRU interim chair Peter Mazey stated.

“He will work with Nacanieli Cawanibuka who comes in as a consultant.

We have already received very positive feedback from the boys after Ian Gibbons joined them in Vancouver and he has delivered a lot since.

The team is happy and impressed with what he can help them achieve.”

Kolinisau, the 2016 Olympic Games gold medal winning captain, has requested for Viliame Satala to remain as the assistant coach and Willie Baleinabuli as team manager.
