New minivan stand for Nadi

A NEW minibus stand that will cater for 55 minibuses was officially opened at the Nadi Minibus Base on Raniga St near Prince Charles Park on Saturday.
The new minivan base is part of the Nadi Town Council’s ongoing project to improve parking areas for public service vehicles within the Jet Set Town.
While officially opening the new base, Local Government Minister Maciu Nalumisa said the project was completed within a span of less than three months demonstrating the council’s ability to meticulous planning.
“This ambitious undertaking has resulted in the creation of 55 bases, connecting various routes from Rakiraki, Tavua, Lautoka, Sigatoka, all the way to Suva,” he said.
“This signifi cant milestone clearly indicates the council’s commitment to building resilient infrastructure and their far-sighted approach to long-term planning.”
He said that with the successful completion of the first phase of the project, the Nadi Town Council has plans to add other facilities to the space over the next financial year.
“They aim to construct a shelter, public washroom, kiosk, and a splendid concrete walkway from the bus station to this very base.
“This upcoming upgrade will undoubtedly revolutionise the service delivery provided by the Nadi Town Council, ensuring an elevated experience for all who utilise this transportation hub.”
Nadi Town Council CEO Lawrence Kumar commended his staff for their dedication to completing the project within the timeframe.
He said they were already looking forward to completing the next phases of the project.
