New Govind Park to open in 8-10 weeks time

The new Govind Park is now 90 percent ready, the Ba Town Council has announced.

Phase two works amounting to $8 million was  awarded to two contractors which undertook all infrastructure works, building services, new international size ground, irrigation including civil works.  

Western Builders is currently doing the ticket booth, fencing, footpaths, electrical, fire and mechanical works.  

Heritage Limited are carrying out construction of new sports ground, irrigation, and embankment shaping works.

Special Administrator Chair, Moshim Khan said the sportsfield grass was imported from Australia.

“Bermuda Tiftuf Grass is ideal for sportsfields and renowned for its durability, super drought tolerance and ability to withstand heavy sports usage for rugby and soccer,” he said.

He is optimistic that Govind Park will host a Super rugby game next year including IDC and Skipper Cup games in coming months.
