The Fiji Police Force is formulating a drug test policy to be included in the upcoming review of the Police Act of 1965.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said only new recruits are currently being accorded the mandatory drug test.
“We would also like to review our Police Act, giving powers to police officers, to me, in terms of testing our police officers,” Mr Tudravu said.
“There is an absence of that, and whilst we are trying to review our Police Act, there is a policy that is coming up that we would like to manage the situations that we are facing now in terms of drugs being used within the Fiji Police Force.”
