Students of Lekutu District School and Lekutu Secondary School in Bua have something to look forward to with their new building project now underway.

Last week the Education Minister, Aseri Radrodro, was chief guest at the school’s ground-breaking ceremony for projects at the two schools.

The primary school is expected to get new dormitories, a dining hall, a library, a computer room, two teachers’ quarters and a toilet block.

The secondary school is expected to get new dormitories, an administration building with an upgraded sick-bay, five teachers’ quarters, a toilet block, a new dining hall and a kitchen.

Now students and teachers look forward to sleeping soundly in their new dorms and quarters — a necessity at any rural boarding school.

Meals will soon be enjoyed in new dining halls and meal will be prepared in new kitchen facilities — these will contribute immensely to these students’ learning. Joining the education minister at this event was the Australian High Commission’s chargé d’affaires, Stuart Watts, and the Australian High Commission’s Pacific humanitarian specialist, Erin Magee.

In his address to students, staff and guests, Mr Radrodro acknowledged the Australian Government’s unwavering commitment and support towards the Fiji education sector.

The Ministry of Education statement highlighted that the projects will be fully funded by the Australian Government.

Mr Radrodro wished both schools the very best as they begin a new chapter with the commencement of their new projects.
