WEARING the blue jersey is a privilege and elevating their players to a greater platform is the message driven by Suva Rugby Union chairman Maritino Nemani for the union’s coaching panel this year.

Nemani made those sentiments as Vueti Tupou, Seremaia Bai, Seremaia Waqanisau, Bera, Sailada, Koroi Matadigo, Jonetani Ratutokarua, Naca Seniu, Meli Tuifagalele, Tavaita Rowati, Mere Moto and Saiasi Fuli were announced as part of the panel recently.

“We trust our coaching staff to mould the next generation of Suva players during the off-season and pre-season for their clubs and consistently performing every week,” Nemani said.

“Wearing the blue jersey is a privilege, elevating our players to the big stage is our duty.”

In the senior men’s team for the Skipper Cup, Tupou has been named as head coach, with Bai being technical advisor and Waqanisau being the technical coach in scrums.

Tupou will be assisted by Bera and Sailada.

For the Suva under-20 team, Matadigo, Ratutokarua and Seniu will take up key roles in its coaching and management panel.

In the women’s program, Tuifagalele, Rowati and Moto fill in key roles in the team’s panel of coaches as it makes strides into the Marama Cup this year.

Meanwhile, seasoned coach Fuli be the director of coaching.

These key roles, taken up by experienced rugby professionals within the Suva rugby scene, places them in a position to take their teams higher into provincial rugby competitions this year.
