New batch of Fijian soldiers deployed to Iraq today

Eighty-Two (82) soldiers left the country today for a tour of duty in Iraq under the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq.

Commander Joint Taskforce Command (JTFC) Brigadier-General Manoa Gadai farewelled the officers.

“Be reminded that you are all ambassadors of the RFMF and Fiji and with that, make sure you perform your duties and tasks with due diligence and of the highest standards,” he said.

The contingent will be led by Commanding Officer (CO) Designate – Lieutenant Colonel Timoci Naivalu.

Fiji has been sending troops to Iraq for 21 years now.
