The PacificAus Sports Netball Series, now entering its fifth edition, is set to return in February 2025 with an exciting new addition to the competition lineup.
Scheduled to take place at Brisbane’s Nissan Arena from February 17-22, the series continues to receive support from the Australian Government through the PacificAus Sports program.
Its primary objective remains unchanged to provide teams with high-level competition and exposure to diverse styles of play in order to elevate the global standard of netball.
The Series will feature a mix of Pacific teams, including the Fiji Pearls, Papua New Guinea (PNG) Pepes, Samoa Tifa Moana, and the reigning champions, the Tonga Tala, who have clinched the title four times in a row.
Joining them are the Australian First Nations Black Swans, returning as domestic invitees after making their debut at the 2024 Series.
A newcomer to the competition is the Scottish Thistles, who will be making their first appearance in the series.
Scottish Thistles’ Head Coach, Kath Tetley, expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity that the Series presents for her team.
She sees it as a chance for the Thistles to learn and grow by competing against top-tier teams from the Southern Hemisphere.
Likewise, PNG Pepes’ Head Coach, Lua Rikis, is thrilled about her team’s participation in the upcoming Series.
She Acknowled the benefits of exposure to international tournaments, Rikis is focused on maintaining consistency and competitiveness in order to meet the high expectations of the event.
The diverse lineup of teams competing in the Series reflects a broader effort to enhance the global standing of netball, particularly with the Netball World Cup on the horizon.
