Together with the Australian Government through the Pacific Aus Sports Partnership and Netball Australia, Netball Fiji will be hosting a Quad Training Series from February 11-12 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva next year.

Netball Fiji has invited two teams from Australia — the IMB South Coast Blaze and the Sunshine Coast Thunder — to be part of the quad training series.

The two teams will be led by former Fiji Pearls players Simone Nalatu, who will be coaching Sunshine Coast Thunder, and head coach of South Coast Blaze Marji Parr.

The Fiji Pearls national squad will be fielding two separate teams — Fiji Black and Fiji Blue — for the series.

The series will be a round robin format where Blaze will play against Fiji Black and Fiji Blue.

The preparation campaign will provide the Fiji Pearls high level match and the opportunity for final team selection leading into the XVII Pacific Games.

Blaze coach Marji Parr said the quad series would allow their players the opportunity to work with some international players and coaching staff while enjoying the Fijian environment and culture.

“The experience will offer Blaze players a unique development experience in an international high performance sporting environment.”

Blaze co-captain Abbey McFadden said she was looking forward to participating at the quad series.

“It’s such a wonderful opportunity that doesn’t come around every day, and to send Blaze across to Fiji to participate in this tournament is really a once in a lifetime experience,” Abbey said.
