Elite netball returns to the Vodafone Arena from August 3-8 as Netball Fiji hosts the Fiji Invitational Tournament, bringing together four competitive teams for six days.
The Fiji Invitational Tournament, supported by the Fiji National Sports Commission, marks a significant milestone in the Crest Fiji Pearls’ journey towards the Oceania World Cup Qualifiers this September and their pursuit of a place at the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney.
Featuring Fiji Black, Fiji Blue, New South Wales Fiji Davui, and the Auckland Fijians, the Invitational Tournament will provide the national coaching staff with an invaluable opportunity to assess combinations, test game strategies, and evaluate players under competitive pressure.
Head coach Michelle Parsons said the Invitational comes at exactly the right time for the Fiji Pearls as they continue their preparations for the biggest challenge of the year.
“This tournament is an important part of our journey.
“It allows us to see our players perform in competitive match conditions, build combinations, and continue developing the style of netball we want to take into the Oceania Qualifiers.”
Parsons said she has been impressed by the commitment shown throughout the squad.
“The dedication from the players has been outstanding.
“They understand what is at stake, and there’s a genuine hunger to represent Fiji on the world stage.”
“This tournament is another opportunity for them to earn that jersey.”
The Fiji Invitational Tournament not only provides elite competition but also celebrates the growth of netball in Fiji, inspiring the next generation of athletes while strengthening relationships with regional and international partners.
Netball Fiji is encouraging fans, families, and the wider community to come out in numbers and support the Fiji Pearls next week, Monday, August 3 to Thursday, August 6, as they continue their journey towards the 2027 World Cup.
