HISTORY will repeat itself when Navua and Ba meet in the final of the 2026 BiC Fiji FACT after Navua edged Lautoka 2-1 in extra time in a thrilling semi-final clash at Subrail Park yesterday.
The two sides were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time before Navua found the winner through Thomas Dunn in extra time to seal a place in tomorrow’s final.
The result sets up a repeat of the 2010 Fiji FACT final, with Navua hoping to rewrite history by lifting the title this time around.
Navua coach Rodicks Singh gave thanks to God after the hard-fought victory, saying it had been a true test of faith for his side.
“We went down, came back, fought hard and won 2-1. It’s not easy to play 120 minutes, but all credit goes to the boys for their effort and determination,” he said.
Singh said despite suffering a loss earlier in the tournament, the team never lost belief.
“We knew we had the squad and the team that could come back and do well this year.
” We kept believing, kept our faith in Jesus Christ, and that’s why we’re here today.”
Looking ahead to the final, Singh said it was a special occasion for him and his players.
“It’s special for me. It’s back-to-back finals for me, but this time we want to win the trophy.
“We’re here to do something special, and now we can only hope and pray that we go one step better this time.”
He said his halftime message was for his players to continue believing and stick to their game plan, adding that football could change in a matter of seconds.
Singh thanked the players for trusting the team’s system and style of play, saying their commitment had paid off.
He also dedicated the victory to his wife, who celebrated her birthday yesterday.
