Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s player Joji Nasova finished the HSBC SVNS Seriesas part of the 2025 HSBC SVNS Men’s Dream Team and as its top try scorer in the men’s competition with 26 tries, a tie with Marcos Moneta of Argentina.
The latter accolade makes him the fourth Fijian to receive it, following in the footsteps of renowned sevens names such as Vilimoni Delasau, Nasoni Roko and Samisoni Viriviri.
It is also the first time the men’s top try scorer award has been shared
Delasau scooped it for the 1999-2000 season, Roko in 2002-2003 and Viriviri for 2013-2014.
He was instrumental this season in scoring two tries in the men’s cup semi-final against Argentina at the Dubai 7s, where he scored two tries to aid in helping Fiji hand their opponents in 43-21 defeat.
Fiji would then win the Dubai 7s after they defeated Spain 19-5 in the cup final.
Meanwhile, his inclusion in the Dream Team sees him join other players such as Harry Glover of Great Britain, Luciano Gonzalez and Marcos Moneta of Argentina, Manu Moreno and Pol Pla of Spain and Paulin Riva of France.
Nasova debuted in the white jumper in the 2023/2024 season at the Hong Kong 7s at its former home in So Kon Po Stadium.
The Toge, Ba player was part of the national 7s team at the 2023 Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands where they won gold and had played alongside his brother Iliavi Masori.
Prior to being noticed by head coach Osea Kolinisau and eventually marching into camp for the Hong Kong 7s, he was also a part of the Dominion Brothers team at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s.
Nasova was also this season’s top point scorer at 158 and was the first Fijian to earn it since Napolioni Bolaca did so in 2020.
