THE 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants has reached its defining weekend with four teams left standing – and Nasinu are the unlikely side carrying the fairy-tale story into the semi-finals.
The Giant Killers were not expected to be here.
They opened their campaign with a 0-1 loss to defending champions Labasa before responding with victories over Navua and Suva.
Their 2-1 victory over Suva in their final Group A match secured their place in the last four and helped send the defending champions Labasa out of the tournament.
Now comes the biggest test.
Nasinu face Rewa at 4.30pm today at the 4R Stadium in Ba for a place in Sunday’s final.
Rewa arrive as Group B winners and have already shown they can hurt the big guns, beating Ba 3-0 in the pool stages.
But the Delta Tigers also enter the semi-final after a 0-1 loss to Nadi in their final pool match.
On the other side, history awaits.
Ba – the most successful district in BOG history with 17 titles – face Suva in the opening semi-final at 2pm.
The Men in Black will know better than anyone what it takes to survive this stage of the competition.
But their own campaign has shown they are vulnerable.
Rewa exposed them with a 3-0 victory before Ba responded with a 3-1 win over Lautoka to secure their semi-final place.
Suva, meanwhile, topped Group A despite losing their final match to Nasinu.
For Nasinu, however, this weekend is about more than one result.
The side last reached the BOG semi-finals in 2019.
They have finished runners-up twice – in 1989 and 1991 – but have never lifted the trophy.
Two victories now stand between them and their first BOG title.
