Nasinu Secondary School’s under-17 side secured a hard-fought victory over Gospel High School with a 20-14 win in the quarter-final of the Vodafone Deans Southern Division at Bidesi Park yesterday.

Despite the wet and muddy conditions, both teams displayed determination and skill throughout the match.

Team manager Rebecca Matai commended the team’s preparations, which involved daily training sessions after school.

“The boys have been following their regular training routine, with coaches guiding them every afternoon after school, the team’s preparations have been supported financially by stakeholders, helping with the necessary resources like refreshments and ice baths,” said Matai.

“It was a tough match, Gospel High School gave us a good game, at half-time, the score was close at 10-9, showing that both teams were giving their best efforts.

“Now, we will regroup and focus on our weaknesses as we prepare for the upcoming semi-final.

“Despite the challenging weather conditions of mud and rain, which affected ball handling, the team managed to secure a win.

“We are grateful for the support of the Nasinu family and old boys who came out in the cold and rainy weather to cheer us on.
